1. What is special about this conference?
Over one hundred participants from different Asia countries will join the conference. Besides, we have invited political leaders and business leaders among Asia countries to give us speeches. You also have the chance to interactive with those leaders during the talk/forum. Moreover, we will visit famous enterprises in Hong Kong, such as Cathy Pacific Airways.
2. What will I benefit from the conference?
You can meet with students from other Asian universities, such as China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan, to know more about their culture and build up your friendship with them. You have the chance to expose yourself and broaden your view about the world, such as Globalization. Besides, you can equip yourself better to face future challenges.
3. Are there any registration requirements for CityU students?
There would not be any registration requirement, but we will arrange a short interview to learn more about our potential participants. The interview mainly focuses on student attitude but not ability.
4. Who will join the conference?
University students from mainland China & East Asia Countries, such as Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan will join the conference.
5. What languages will be used in the conference period?
The official language of the conference is English. But during the free time, you may use any languages.
6 . What do I need to do during the conference?
You will form a group with other participants to do a presentation project; the topic will be related to globalization or leadership.
7. When will I know our group presentation project topics?
We will send you your group members contact information with presentation topics in early June.
8. What do we need to bring to the conference (For non-local participants)?
You need to bring along your personal stuff, clothes (including suit), umbrella / raincoat, stationary, medicine (depends on your personal need), camera, and enough money.
9. What is the expected workload of the presentation?
You are required to do a group presentation project. The group has approximately 10 to 12 members. The presentation is about 10 to 15 minutes with Q&A session. And you are not required to prepare any written work regarding the project.
10. What is the format of the presentation?
It is free. Your group can do it whatever way you like such as drama and PowerPoint. The presentation would be a chance for participants to show leadership and creativity.
11. Will there be any certificates presented to every participant after the conference?
Yes, we will present certificate to our participants whose attendance is over 80%. And a presentation award will be presented to the best presentation group.
12. Can the participants choose their own interested topic for presentation?
No, we will assign a specific topic for every presentation group. But minor change could be made with permission from conference organizer.
13. What is included in the registration fee?
The registration fee includes the conference folder, transportation for enterprise visits, official meals, as well as 2-day accommodation for local students and 6-day accommodation for Asian students.
14. What is the payment method?
We are still seeking assistance from the help of Financial Office of the university. Thus, we will announce further details after it has been confirmed.
15. Do I need to pay the registration fee when I hand in the application form?
No. You do not have to pay any fees now. The payment would only be collected from successful applicants, who will receive formal notification later on.
16. Can the registration fee be refunded?
No, the registration fee cannot be refunded. And the payment would only be collected from successful applicants.
17. What is the SLC handbook about?
The handbook will provide a background on City University and the Student Leadership Conference. It will also invite leaders from education, business, technology, social and other fields to share their views on globalization and their experience in leadership.
18. Who can obtain the conference handbook?
The handbook will distribute for free to all conference participants.
19. Can I have a copy of the handbook if I have not joined the conference?
We will not distribute the handbook publicly. If you are interested, you may send a request to us in July.
20. How many participants will live together in a room?
Two participants will share a room.
21. Can the participants of the City University choose the dates of accommodation?
The dates are fixed. Day 4 and 5 (19th & 20th of June) are arranged for the participants of the City University of Hong Kong.
22. Can the participants of the City University request for accommodation arrangement in addition to day 4&5?
Yes, you can send you request to us. We can try to arrange it for you. There will be no handling fee and you only have to pay for the room charge.
23. Will anyone be our tour guide during the free time?
No, you will have to make you own arrangements during the free time.
24. Can SLC arrange the same group and room for me with my friend?
No, the aim is to provide more interaction between different people.
