Introduction to Shenzhen University

Founded in 1983, Shenzhen University (SZU) is a comprehensive university which has a well-developed curriculum comprising liberal arts, science, engineering, business, law, art and teacher training. The campus is situated at the scenic Back Bay of Shenzhen, facing Hong Kong just across a narrow strip of water.

SZU boasts a highly qualified faculty of 800, of whom 545 are professors and
associate professors, while 231 hold Ph. D. degrees. Nine professors are
supervisors of Ph.D. students. One academician with the Chinese Academy of
Engineering has been invited to work in the university. Of its full-time students, there are 300 on the graduate program, 11000 on the four-year degree program, and 6000 part-time students on the adult education program. Approximately 360 are international students from 15 countries. By the year 2005, the number of full-time students is expected to be 15,000.

SZU has developed cooperation and exchange relationships with 50 institutions of higher learning in such countries as the U.S., Britain, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Guided by the motto "Be geared to modernization, be geared to the world, be geared to the future", SZU is striving to be a unique high standard socialist university of international renown at the beginning of the 21st century.
